Whether it be allergens, pesticide residues, heavy metals, dioxins or other harmful substances - we test the safety of your products. For tests that are required for a product release, we offer an express service upon request. Our size and capacities allow us to provide regular customers with professional support and free analytical capacities in crisis situations.
Overview of our services
Heavy metals in food
Heavy metals in food
Heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury are potent pollutants. They occur naturally in the earth's crust and enter our biosphere primarily as a result of industrial processes. Stringent limits have been set, compliance with which must be tested regularly.Pesticides
Pesticides
Our GOLD package covers more than 500 active substances that are determined using GC-MSD and LC-MS/MS analysis methods and fulfils the requirements of QS, QS-GAP, GLOBALG.A.P., DFHV and EDEKA. We continually adapt our portfolio to meet the demands of retail chains and certification systems, respectively.
We calculate the ARfD values for all active substances and compare them against the thresholds of the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment and the WHO.
Environmental pollutants
Environmental pollutants
Organic pollutants such as dioxin, PCB, PAC, etc., are being found increasingly in the food we eat. We provide you with expert advice on performing your own routine controls for internal quality assurance.
Mycotoxins
Proof and determination of zearalenone, deoxynivalenol and ochratoxin A
The question food manufacturers face is how to monitor threshold values. Only physicochemical laboratory analysis can deliver reliable results. Such methods depend on extensive sample preparation and the use of highly complex analytical equipment. The analysis methods employed by AGROLAB LUFA are also suitable for measuring very small quantities of zearalenone, deoxynivalenol and ochratoxin A. The methods are validated, and have successfully undergone the appropriate testing. Through its continued collaboration with all major bodies, AGROLAB LUFA can also guarantee compliance with the very latest standards.Genetically modified organisms
Genetically modified organisms
Labelling is compulsory for food and fodder if its content of genetically modified organisms (GMO) exceeds 0.9%.The laboratory at AGROLAB LUFA GmbH uses a highly sensitive method of detection, based on real-time PCR technology, that reliably and inexpensively identifies GMO contamination and in many cases enables them to be quantified.
We recommend the three-phase test:
+ Qualitative screening
+ Identification of single events
+ Quantification of the single event
Allergens
Allergens
Many people suffer from food allergies. Just the tiniest trace of a natural ingredient in a food can trigger immune reactions of varying intensities. In rare cases, a minute flake of nut in a piece of chocolate can induce shock in an allergy sufferer. The provision of information on potential allergens in a product is important to those concerned. The range of gluten-free foods for coeliac patients, for example, is constantly expanding. But are such products really safe? This can be checked with our sensitive test methods.
Microbiological quality
Microbiological quality
In addition to traditional colony counts, we use PCR technology as a fast and sensitive method for identifying potentially pathogenic bacteria. Using biochemical tests and DNA sequencing methods, we can unequivocally determine possible spoilage bacteria. We can support you with the routine monitoring of operational hygiene - also on-site.
We test for residues in the following foods:
- Raw materials, premixes, nutritional supplements and concentrates
- Milk and dairy products
- Meat and meat products
- Ready meals and preserves
- Bread and baked goods
- Confectionery and snacks
- Honey
- Soft drinks,
- Drinking and mineral water
- Dietary food products
- Special dietary foods
- Fruit & vegetables, delicacies
- Frozen products
Why regular self-checks are so important?
Anyone producing and marketing foodstuffs bears a huge responsibility, also in the legal sense. Proof of regular self-checks may therefore be of pivotal importance in the event of a claim for damages. This includes traceability of the flow of goods on the one hand, and random analytical sampling on the other. These procedures provide assurance of the quality of the raw material, processes and end products. We can gladly advise you on this matter.
